Restoring Your Breasts Through Reconstruction Surgery

Many women receive a mastectomy during their breast cancer treatment. Breast cancer reconstruction can be performed after a mastectomy to restore wholeness to the breasts. At Eko Plastic Surgery, we are proud to offer this procedure to the residents of Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, CA and surrounding areas.

What is a Breast Reconstruction?

Breast reconstruction is a surgical procedure that is performed after a mastectomy to restore wholeness to the breasts. By using a combination of advanced surgical techniques, we can restore the shape, size, and aesthetic qualities of the breast. Many patients find that a breast reconstruction also helps to restore their sense of femininity, and is a largely beneficial step in the recovery process.

How Much Does a Breast Reconstruction Cost?

The cost of your breast reconstruction at Eko Plastic Surgery will vary depending on the treatment plan that we develop for you. During your consultation, we will discuss your cosmetic goals and treatment needs in order to determine the treatment approach that will be ideal for you. For this reason, we will not be able to provide you with the cost of your treatment until you have the chance to come in and discuss your treatment goals with Dr. Eko.

What is the Recovery Like After a Breast Reconstruction?

After breast reconstruction, you may experience soreness, swelling, or discomfort for up to two weeks. During this time, patients often need to take time off of work and other activities to rest. We will attach drains to the treatment areas in order to allow fluid to escape from the surgery site during the healing process. These will be removed within a few days. Most patients are able to return to normal activities within about two months of their procedure.

If you are considering a breast reconstruction procedure, contact us today to schedule your initial consultation with Dr. Eko. At Eko Plastic Surgery, we welcome patients from Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and the surrounding areas of California.

What is the Breast Reconstruction Procedure Like?

Breast reconstruction can be performed using two different techniques. The best technique for you may depend more on your breast cancer treatment, but we will help you determine the best approach to your breast reconstruction. One technique uses breast implants to restore the original size and shape to the breasts. The other technique is known as a flap procedure. During tissue flap breast reconstruction, tissue will be taken from another area of the body, such as the abdomen, buttocks, back, or thigh. These tissues will be used to rebuild the breasts for results that look and feel like your natural breasts. In some cases, these techniques may be combined.
