A facelift is a surgical procedure that eradicates fine lines and wrinkles and removes excess skin from around the eyes and jawline to give the face a rejuvenated look. It addresses problems such as sagging skin, deep fold lines between the nose and corner of the mouth, jowls, loose skin that gives the appearance of a double chin or turkey neck, and fat that has fallen or disappeared from the cheeks to give the face a sunken look.
To address all of these problems, facelift surgery often includes adding facial fillers to restore youthful contours, skin resurfacing, fat grafting, and other surgeries such as eyelid lifts and forehead and eyebrow lifts. While a facelift does not stop aging or drop decades from the appearance of the face, it knocks five or six years off the appearance when done by itself and twice this when done in conjunction with other procedures.
At Eko Plastic Surgery, Dr. Eko will custom design your procedure based on what you need. Most procedures will tighten facial muscles, add volume, and reduce sagging facial skin, which are common marks of aging. Most surgeries require a small incision at the hairline around the ear and another beneath the chin that allow the surgeon to tighten facial muscles and stretch skin. Depending on the number of procedures involved, the facelift may take several hours and may require more than one session. The procedure is usually done on an outpatient basis and requires a recovery period of 10 days to two weeks. It lasts for 10 to 15 years.
